The School of Social Sciences at Rice University is dedicated to challenging old assumptions, finding answers to tough questions and generating solutions that make lives better. Our vision for the future is to expand and invest in faculty; to strengthen graduate education to attract the best students and enhance our research impact; and to establish new endowments in support of undergraduate research, travel abroad and internships.
Our priorities include:
- Investing in the research enterprise of our faculty and students.
- Recruiting more outstanding faculty.
- Attracting top graduate students.
- Supporting the Gateway program for undergraduates.
- Building a new home for the School of Social Sciences.
The School of Social Sciences Access and Opportunity Fund has been created in honor of the school’s 40th anniversary. The goal of the fund is to provide low-resourced undergraduate students with the financial support to participate fully in the course-based experiential opportunities provided by the School of Social Sciences. Examples include travel off-campus for capstone research, meetings with practicum and internship partners, or fieldwork. It will also provide funds for under-resourced graduate students who encounter unexpected expenses, such as professional travel to conferences and the need to purchase software to support research.
