Recommended Background

To thrive in the Master of Computational Economics (MCECON) program, an ideal candidate should possess a foundation in quantitative and economic skills. This preparedness should be demonstrated through the successful completion of advanced undergraduate coursework in mathematics, statistics, and economics, extending beyond just introductory levels or core requirements. This background provides the necessary analytical and theoretical grounding to engage effectively with the program's demanding curriculum. Some computer programming experience is also advised, but not required.

Application Requirements

The following documents must be submitted before your application will be considered complete.

  • Online Application
  • $85 Fee is Required
  • You must fill out the application summary or your application will not be reviewed
  • Statement of Purpose (upload or answer corresponding question on application)
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation (only 3 are required, if more please submit them, online submission preferred)
  • Official GRE Scores (we do not accept GMAT). Note: The GRE is required by the Economics department.
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS scores**
  • Transcripts for all universities attended (unofficial transcripts are accepted for initial application but official transcripts are required before enrollment).

**TOEFL/IELTS exam can be waived if you have received a degree from an institution at which English is the official language of communication. If you feel you qualify for a waiver you should e-mail the graduate coordinator your request including which schools you attended and specific dates you attended.

Supplemental Information

All supplemental material should be uploaded in the application portal. Supplemental material will not be accepted by email unless you have problems uploading your material on the application website.
