For Applicants

Program Overview

The Master of Energy Economics at Rice University is designed to train participants to produce insightful analysis of energy markets in order to inform them in such things as capital asset decisions, firm strategic direction and future market orientation. The course of study familiarizes participants with relevant and insightful economics models, quantitative methods, and a comprehensive view of the factors that drive energy markets.

MEECON is a full time graduate level terminal degree. Online courses are not offered.

To Apply

Admission to the program is limited to outstanding individuals who have earned undergraduate degrees (except current Rice students who may apply to the MEECON program in the second semester of their senior year).

The deadline for submitting applications is May 1st.  Late applications may be considered. However, candidates who miss the deadline place themselves in an increasingly uncompetitive position.
