Rice Public Finance Economists Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards

George Zodrow, Cline Professor of Economics, and Peter Mieszkowski, Professor Emeritus of Economics, were honored by the National Tax Association (NTA) with lifetime achievement awards during the organization's Annual Conference on Taxation in Denver in November, 2009. Mieszkowski received the Daniel M. Holland Medal, the NTA's most prestigious award, for "outstanding contributions to the study and practice of public finance." Zodrow received the Steven D. Gold Award for "making significant contributions to state and local fiscal policy and demonstrating the capacity to cross the boundaries between academic research and public policy making." Rice Economists Serve as Editors of Scholarly Journals

Several Rice economists are currently serving as the editors of top journals in their fields of specialization.  Robin Sickles is the editor in chief of the Journal of Productivity Analysis, a position he has held since 2002. George Zodrow has been editor of the National Tax Journal since 2007, and formerly served as an editor of International Tax and Public Finance. John Diamond has served as the forum editor of the National Tax Journal since 2007. Simon Grant served as the co-editor-in-chief of the  Mathematical Social Sciences, a position he held between 2007-2010 , when he replaced Herve Moulin, who served as editor-in-chief between 1993-2005. 

Economics Graduate Alumni Lecture Series

The Rice University Department of Economics cordially invites you to a Graduate Alumni Lecture, featuring Purvez Captain (1994), Jorge Gonzales-Gomez (2009) and Valentin Krustev (2004). They will be presenting "Transfer Pricing - A Discussion on International Trade & Employment Opportunities for Economists". We believe this event will be in the interest of both our graduate and undergraduate students.
